Joe Wheeler holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration- marketing from Tennessee Technological University, a Master of Public Administration degree in health care administration from Western Michigan University, and is a Certified Medical Practice Executive through the Medical Group Management Association. Joe’s forty years of experience includes management of multi and single specialty medical practices in California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Tennessee. He has also served as a private consultant to physicians and hospitals. Joe has direct experience in the development of alternative health delivery systems such as surgical centers, birthing centers, pathology laboratories, rural primary care centers, management service organizations, and home health agencies. A former hospital administrator, he has held positions in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors, most recently with the Sisters of St. Joseph Health System. Having served on the Kentucky Board for Rural Health Care and as a member of the Medical Group Management Association, Association of Physician Recruiters, and American Society of Management Consulting, Joe’s special interests include practice marketing, physician recruitment, consulting, practice financial management, and development of new sources of revenue. As a National College of Business & Technology instructor, Joe brings a combination of real world health care management experience, five years of career training, and eight years of corporate seminar experience.
