CRRSAA Reporting – HEERF II

HEERF II and III Reporting December 09, 2023

On December 27, 2020, the President signed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) (P.L. 116-260).   The U.S. Department of Education has made emergency financial aid grants to students at our institution who may have expenses for any component of the their cost of attendance or emergency cost that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.  American National University must disburse the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF II – CRRSAA ) reasonably to all eligible students.

On May 11, 2021, the U. S. Department of Education continued their support for the students of high education by providing funds through an additional HEERF III grant, the American Rescue Plan (ARP). The Department is making funds available for emergency relief aid to students who already were authorized under the Coronavirus Aide, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) relief legislation.

American National University (ANU) has signed and completed the Funding Certification and Agreement for the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students and Institutions.  We acknowledge the understanding of the agreement and intend to use these funds as Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) grants to students.

On August 2, 2021 American National University completed the Institution Certification form for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.   On August 5, 2021, ANU received an increase in authorization.

ANU has received authorization for the CRRSAA: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II for the student portion as below:

Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds for ANU Students:

The CRRSAA –  HEERF II are emergency financial aid grants to students at our institution who may have expenses for any component of the their cost of attendance or emergency cost that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.  The grants will not change a student’s federal financial aid.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Fill out the application provided by the Financial Aid Office (Sample Application Form – PDF)
  2. Students will be contacted by the ANU Financial Services staff, if additional items are needed.

Eligibility and Requirements:

  1. Have incurred expenses related to the cost of attendance or emergency cost due to coronavirus.
  2. Be an attending student at time of disbursement.
