PARKERSBURG, WV – National College (national-college.edu) began classes at its new campus in Parkesburg, West Virginia this past March, offering focused career education in business, computers, and health care. The campus is located at 110 Park Center Drive (in the Park Shopping Center).
“We have a full staff and are busy interviewing prospective students and introducing ourselves to the community,” says Jeff Noland, Parkersburg campus director. “The Mid-Ohio Valley is a perfect fit for us, as our campuses in central Ohio and western Virginia have begun to establish a name for us in the region.”
The new campus location represents a nearly $1.5 million investment by National College all privately funded. Seven classrooms, a separate medical lab with pharmacy station, three computer classrooms, and an information systems engineering lab will occupy much of the campus’ 22,000 square feet of space. A library, student lounge, career center, book store, and administrative & teaching office space are also planned. The campus will occupy a portion of an existing free-standing building near the Park Shopping Center, which has just been renovated by the college.
“Our research has shown that despite the overall economic downturn, employment growth is still fairly solid in career positions such as information systems engineers, pharmacy technicians, and medical assistants, which are among our most popular and successful programs,” explains Mr. Noland. “Employment overall is beginning to rebound, and we expect a strong demand in the key fields of business, information technology, and health care for which we train thousands of graduates each year.”
The campus offers a variety of diploma and associate degree programs in the fields of health care, business, and information technology. “National College offers programs taught by professionals with real-world experience,” adds Mr. Noland. “Through small class sizes and a hands-on curriculum, our graduates have a competitive edge even in a tough job climate.”
The campus will offer a variety of programs, ranging from short-term diplomas that can be completed in as little as nine months through bachelor’s degrees. Programs will include:
