Interactive Learning Formats that Prepare You for Your Career

Learning is a life-long endeavor – whether you're pursuing your degree or learning from experiences on the job, you'll encounter a variety of technologies and methods that add to your practical and technical knowledge. American National University offers interactive learning formats throughout our programs. Not only do we train you in the knowledge and techniques you'll need to be successful in your future career, but we give you the experience you need to be life-long learners. We also offer classes on campus (day and evening courses) or online, so you can fit an education into your busy life.

When it comes to achieving your degree, learn in ways that prepare you for your future career!

Hands-on Learning: If you learn by doing, you’ll love our hands-on instruction. Our instructors are professionals from the field with real experience in what they teach. They know what you’re likely to encounter out on the job and they bring that knowledge into the classroom through real world scenarios. For example, you might conduct a lab that recreates a common surgical procedure you’d scrub in on as a surgical technologist in an operating room. Or learn how to draw blood in our phlebotomy lab as part of our Phlebotomy + ECG Tech program or Medical Assisting program. Build and troubleshoot hardware components in our Network Support program or put your business knowledge to use in projects with local businesses in our Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

On-campus: Come to any one of our 30 campuses in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia and get personalized attention from our skilled instructors. With small class sizes and peer tutoring available, you’ll have the support you need to succeed in your courses. We offer flexible day and evening schedules to fit the needs of our working students. Talk to a local campus about what schedule would work best for you!

"Our instructors are professionals from the field with real experience in what they teach. They know what you’re likely to encounter out on the job and they bring that knowledge into the classroom through real world scenarios."

Video Conferencing: Join classes with students and instructors across state lines in a simulcast video-conferenced classes which allows you benefit from instructors with expertise in your field and gain feedback from students outside of your local area. Offering video-conferencing classes also allows us to maximize course offerings and allows you to get through your degree on track without wasting time!

Online: If you can’t make it to campus and think that may keep you from achieving your educational goals, think again! Many of our programs and courses are taught fully online. You’ll attend virtual classrooms and complete all your assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects online. And you’ll have access to an online support staff for assistance with academic advising, financial aid, tutoring, refresher courses, and career services.

Blended Learning: Many of our programs have courses taught on-campus and online. Look for programs offered on campus and online at your local campus for these options! This would give you the flexibility to take some of your classes on campus, but also complete some online courses from the convenience of your own home.

Externships: Once you’ve prepared for your future career in the classroom, it’s time to take your knowledge out into the real world. At ANU, your program may include externship opportunities where you’ll go into business or clinical settings to learn even more. Designed to give you practical work experience, your externship can give your resume a boost and set you above the competition in the job market.
