Deidre Michael has worked in the health information management field for more than 25 years, specializing in coding/billing, and is presently a coding consultant for a company based Boston. Deidre received her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Services from University of Phoenix and her associate degree in Health Information from Hocking College. She is a Registered Health Information Technician and a Certified Coder and Auditor. She teaches medical coding and health information management courses at the Parkersburg Campus.

Debra Cunningham is an instructor at ANU’s Parkersburg Campus. She is a certified business coach and consultant, providing strategic guidance for business owners and is the President and CEO of Evergreen Business Strategies. Debbie holds a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with concentration in marketing & advertising from Glenville State College. She has 17 years of experience in medical staff recruiting and served as Vice President of a hospital, supporting a family medicine residency program. She organized and established two different Physician Hospital Organizations and was Executive Director of each. Her expertise includes medical staff credentialing, physician practice management, financial turn-a-rounds, managed care contracting, provider network development, provider network credentialing including NCQA and URAC standards, JCAHO and AOA compliance, Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA and Corporate compliance.

Jennifer Johnston Crow has worked in the communications field for more than 30 years, and is currently a writer/editor with the federal government. She has communications experience in print journalism and in public relations in higher education as well as state government. Jennifer holds a master of science degree in journalism from West Virginia University and bachelor’s degrees in English and history from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Her writing has won firsts, seconds, thirds, and honorable mentions from the National Press Women Association, the West Virginia Press Women Association, and West Virginia Writers, Inc. At ANU, she teaches English composition.

Patricia Sell is the medical programs department chair and Director of Health Care Education at American National University’s Princeton Campus and has been with the university since 2001. She earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Fairmont State University, as well as a master’s degree in education from Virginia Tech. She has experience as an Associate Head Nurse, Charge Nurse, and In-House Supervisor at hospitals and nursing homes in Morgantown, Fairmont, Princeton, and Bluefield (WV and VA) and most recently worked as a relief hospice nurse. Patricia teaches clinical medical assisting courses, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, human diseases, and healthcare law and ethics courses in addition to monitoring externships and preparing students to take the RMA exam prior to graduation.

Sammy J. Martin is the owner of Able and Associates Investigations and Forensics Consulting LLC, a private investigations firm located in Princeton, WV and specializing in computer forensics, network security, network intrusion, and eDiscovery investigations. He has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement, previously served as a vice president in the Los Angeles office of Duff and Phelps, LLC, and was part of the Dispute & Legal Management Consulting Practice, where he managed the Los Angeles Forensics Laboratory. He also previously worked as a Special Agent of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) where he specialized in the investigation of environmental and major government procurement frauds and was one of the first Special Agents assigned to conduct computer forensic analysis and investigate intrusions into the Department of the Navy’s computer networks systems. He then worked as a Special Agent of the NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, where he was responsible for conducting investigations relating to fraud, waste and abuse of NASA assets and programs, and specialized in computer forensics and network intrusion investigation. Sammy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from North Carolina Wesleyan College and currently serves as Information Technology department chair at the ANU Princeton Campus.

She also worked in her father’s family-owned finance business for 22 years. She is an instructor at ANU’s Princeton Campus in the general education department, where she is the department chairperson. Deborah’s specializations include English and Social Science courses. She has a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s in Instruction and Curriculum.
