Sheena Armentrout, the Director of Membership and Investments for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce and a 2010 alumna of American National University, has been named to the region’s 10 under 40 list.
After initially earning her associate’s degree from ANU’s Harrisonburg Campus, Sheena decided to return to ANU to pursue her bachelor of business administration after working as an outside sales assistant for several years at a local cell phone store. Sheena moved on to work at Daniels Promotional Products, becoming an account executive in addition to juggling a part-time job and school.
Sheena continued to work at Daniels upon her graduation and worked alongside the Chamber and volunteered at their largest event of the year: Valley Fest. Providing merchandise for this local beer, wine, and music festival allowed Sheena insight into her future career of connecting with the community and helping local businesses.
When the position she now holds was originally vacated, she was recommended to the board and subsequently offered the job. Now Sheena upholds four pillars of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce: lead, advocate, network, and promote, by organizing events to help local business owners promote their brand. Sheena’s duties have expanded to teaching local leaders online video streaming capabilities for events that would normally be held in a conference room due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Sheena’s passion for helping others translates into the hard work she accomplishes to support and better her community. The Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executives recognized Sheena’s dedication by selecting her for a scholarship to enroll in the Institute for Organization Management at Villanova, where she has completed one year.
